Cooper Lighting Introduces Innovative Low-Profile Class R Series

Peachtree City, Ga., April 2, 2008 - Cooper Lighting has introduced the new Corelite Class R series of shallow recessed direct-indirect luminaires. Discarding the traditional "box" design, the Class R boasts an innovative and unobtrusive low-profile housing shape, providing the perfect answer to constrained plenum space. The Class R features T5 specific low-energy technology and highly efficient optical engineering to aid in "green" sustainable design.

The ability to retain ceiling heights, reduce plenum space, and potentially save stories worth of building materials is perhaps the Class R's highest impact on architecture overall. The ultra shallow profile of the Class R installs easily into a condensed plenum, and enables a reduced overall building height, without sacrificing the desired ceiling height. Whether installing from below the plenum, or sliding over from an adjacent grid space, the innovative fixture design offers easy installation-in the tightest spaces-in half the space required for traditional lay-ins.

The series features a sleek modern design available in two low profile housings (Class R1 and Class R2) and offers precise, seamless ceiling integration with four standard T interfaces. The Class R1 Ultra Shallow Recessed luminaire features a 1-¾" depth and the Class R2 Shallow Recessed luminaire features a 2-7/8" deep housing. The two housings work in tandem to overcome the most extreme plenum challenges. The series is available in 1' x 4', 2' x 2' and 2' x 4' sizes with one, two or three lamp options.

Class R's T5 dedicated design in combination with the optically engineered shielding options deliver highly efficient direct/indirect illumination (up to 95%), and meet the latest energy code requirements. The series features four unique shielding options-Lensed, Micro Baffle, Round Perf and Rectangular Perf. The co-extruded lens, integral to all four of the Class R shielding options, is comprised of either clear or frosted acrylic, and incorporates two innovative optically designed integral linear prism structures creating both excellent task lighting and softly luminous vertical wall surfaces. This vertical illumination helps eliminate the "cave effect" and enhances the perception of space.

The Class R works in tandem with an array of advanced dimming and control solutions.
