Light Grid Sensors can detect 2 mm sized objects.

March 27, 2008 - Suited for part counting and leading edge detection on conveyors, HLG Light Grid Sensors are through-beam style switching light grids that do not need any external controller box. Units come in rugged aluminum housing which can withstand punishing industrial environments. Cable synchronization provides quick setup and product detection, while teach-in automatic sensitivity adjustment allows for detection of translucent objects and wrappings for precise detection.

New HLG Light Grid Provides Fast and Reliable Detection

Minneapolis, Minn., - March 19, 2008. SICK (www.sickusa.com), one of the world's leading manufacturers of sensors, safety systems and automatic identification products for factory and logistics automation, today announced the launch of its family of HLG Light Grid Sensors. With high resolution and fast switching speeds, the HLG is an ideal addition to the versatile array of light grid solutions from SICK. The HLG is ideal for part counting and leading edge detection on a conveyor.

The HLG offers a higher resolution than the company's existing ELG Light Grids, resulting in a much smaller minimum detectable object (MDO) size of 2 mm. The HLG Light Grids are through-beam style switching light grids. They provide a fast and reliable switching output any time one of the beams is blocked.

Features and benefits of the HLG include:

o Self-sufficient. No external controller box. All processing is done internally to the light grid, resulting in a fast response time, easy instillation, quick and simple commissioning, and lower cost.

o Rugged aluminum housing can withstand punishing industrial environments.

o Cable synchronization of the HLG provides quick and easy setup and very fast product detection.

o Teach-in automatic sensitivity adjustment allows for detection of translucent objects and wrappings for more precise detection.
