Gantry Cranes meet heavy duty Class D specifications.


March 25, 2008 - Designed for bridge repair work and elevated highway renovations, gantry cranes can span over open lanes across whole bridge if necessary, and their legs can ride on edges of bridge to move forward as construction progresses. Available in spans to 150 ft and capacities to 150 tons, cranes come with trolleys and end trucks, and can be custom-engineered for outdoor conditions. Units adhere to CMAA, ANSI, UBC, AISC, and OSHA codes and safety requirements.

Made-to-order gantry cranes specially designed for bridge repair work and elevated highway renovations are now available from North American Industries, Inc. of Woburn, Massachusetts. The gantry cranes can span over open lanes across the whole bridge if necessary, and their "legs" can ride on edges of the bridge allowing the crane to move forward easily as construction progresses further. North American Industries can even design the cranes with adjustable spans so that the contractor can use it for several bridge projects. Features
o built to heavy duty Class D specifications
o available in spans to 150 feet and capacities to 150 tons
o can be designed for outdoor conditions
o wire rope or electric chain hoists
o adhere to CMAA, ANSI, UBC, AISC, and OSHA codes and safety requirements
o can be custom-engineered

Options
o Different NEMA Ratings such as NEMA 4 watertight
o Cold weather protection (heaters in motors and panels to eliminate condensation buildup)
o Trolley designed for cross slope and end trucks designed for longitudinal slope
o Generator mounting platform on end truck
o Emergency brakes that will stop fully loaded crane traveling at full speed with 50 MPH wind
o Quick disconnect electrical fittings
o Welded or bolted construction to facilitate erection as well as disassembly for easy relocation
o Wireless radio remote controls
o Simultaneous or independent controls of hoists and trolleys
o Variable frequency drives to operate at any speed
o Catwalks
o Outboard bracing from legs to girder so loads can pass through legs of the crane
