Komatsu America Corp. Announces the PC78MR-6 Compact Hydraulic Excavator

Komatsu Compact Hydraulic Excavator Drastically Improves Operator Comfort, Productivity And Serviceability

o Spacious cab with air conditioner
o Short tail swing design
o Two work modes
o Powerful Komatsu engine
o Extended service intervals

Rolling Meadows, IL, For CONEXPO - CON/AGG 2008-Komatsu America Corp. (KAC) announces the PC78MR-6 compact hydraulic excavator designed to bring increased production and added operator comfort to contractors in a variety of construction, utility, landscaping and other small- to mid-sized applications

By increasing the size of the operator's compartment and implementing a variety of production enhancing and maintenance friendly features, this compact excavator has the strength and feel of Komatsu's full-sized excavators, while still providing a compact package ideal for operating in confined job sites.

o Operator Comfort
For operator comfort, the PC78MR-6 allows easy entry and egress due to the wide entrance and well placed handholds. A fully adjustable suspension seat with retractable seatbelt lessens fatigue, and pilot proportional joystick controls permit continuous, comfortable operation. The standard air conditioner and AM/FM radio allow the operator to remain comfortable during the course of the work day

o Productivity
The PC78MR-6 is a member of the minimum swing radius (MR) family of excavators.
This enables the operator to focus on the work in front and worry less about rear swing impacts in confined areas. Another feature that enhances the machines productivity is the swing boom which allows the PC78MR-6 to work along side walls. The PC78MR-6 has an operating weight of 18,230 lb., and features a maximum dig depth of 15 ft. 6 in. when equipped with the long arm. Two working modes allow the operator to tailor machine operation to the given application, either maximizing power during difficult workloads or conserving fuel when the job doesn't require maximum power. The standard pattern change valve allows the operator to choose between ISO and SAE operating patterns ensuring the operator is able to perform at his peak potential.

o Value
The PC78MR-6 gets its power from a Komatsu engine with a net horsepower of 54 HP. The direct injection turbo charged engine meets EPA emissions requirements and is fuel efficient without sacrificing power or efficiency. The high strength sloped track frame deters the build-up dirt and debris saving the operator valuable time when cleaning the machine. O-Ring face seal hydraulic fittings and connectors and electrical connectors that are moisture and dust resistant dramatically improve reliability.

o Service and Maintenance
To simplify maintenance, Komatsu equipped the PC78MR-6 with numerous features. The wide opening engine cover and side covers provide outstanding access to daily checkpoints. Extended greasing and service intervals make it easier to schedule maintenance.
