MTS Sensors Expands Mobile Hydraulic Product Family with Digital Output

MH sensors now offer flexibility of analog, digital or CANbus output to mix and match...

CARY, NC - (March 11, 2008) - MTS Systems Corp., Sensors Division has added a
pulse width modulated (PWM) digital output option to its M-Series MH model of mobile
hydraulic sensors. The PWM output is an ideal solution for customers who may want to
switch to digital without the added expense of going to a CANbus protocol.

"We realize PWM is the industry standard for digital outputs and we want to be
sure we have a product that addresses those needs in the marketplace," said Brian Cox,
technical marketing manager for mobile hydraulics at MTS. "With this addition to the MSeries MH model, our OEM customers now have the flexibility to utilize analog, digital
or CANbus outputs in the same mechanical package. With a single mechanical design
they can mix-and-match electrical outputs for what's best for their equipment and
applications."

The MH with PWM output is available with frequency from 50Hz to 500Hz and
the measurement is scaled between 5% to 95% and 25% to 75%. The sensor provides the
superior quality and performance that customers have come to expect from MTS Sensors.

With a 100g shock and 25g vibration rating, the MH sensor was designed for
rugged environments, especially those typically encountered in construction, agriculture, and other off-highway machinery. Along with high shock and vibration ratings, the sensor has 200V/m EMI protection.

Designed for cylinders two inches in diameter (or larger), the MH sensor now
provides a measuring range of two to 98 inches (50-2500mm), while maintaining high
levels of accuracy and repeatability.

The MH sensor provides four position output options: Voltage: 0 to 5V; Current:
0 to 20mA or 4 to 20mA; CANBus: J1939, CANOpen, or ISOBus; and now PWM. The
MH sensor operates from -40 to +105°C, and can be purchased with either individual
wire or cable connection options that are compatible with typical mobile equipment
electrical connector requirements.

M-Series sensors meet ISO14982 standards for agricultural and forest machines
and ISO7637-0/1/2 standards for road vehicles, and are CE-certified.
