March 3, 2008 - Suited for wide range of applications, MultiConnect® WF wirelessly IP-enables devices to provide remote monitoring, control, and configuration of any system. Equipped with 2 interfaces, one conforming to IEEE 802.11b Wi-Fi standard, and another that meets RS-232 standard via DB9 connector. Available with external or RS-232 power options, device server also supports ARP, DHCP client, DNS, FTP client, ICMP (ping), IP, POP3, SMTP, TCP, and UDP protocols.

MINNEAPOLIS, Feb. 26 - Multi-Tech® Systems, Inc., a leading data communications and telecommunications technology company based in suburban Minneapolis is now shipping the MultiConnect® WF external device server that connects serial devices to IP networks via 802.11b wireless networking. The MultiConnect WF wirelessly IP-enables devices to provide remote monitoring, control and configuration of any system. It is ideal for applications such as industrial and medical remote monitoring systems, data collection, remote diagnostics, remote metering, security systems, point of sale terminals, and ATM machines. The MultiConnect WF Serial-to-Wi-Fi® adapter, Model MTS2WFA sells for an MSRP of US$279.00.

"This Wi-Fi® MultiConnect WF is the newest member of our MultiConnect family," states Mike Kydd, Vice President of Sales for Multi-Tech Systems, Inc. "The family functions as interface adapters allowing serial devices to connect to other communications mediums such as wired Ethernet, and other serial devices including wired or wireless modems, Bluetooth® networks and now Wi-Fi. The MultiConnect WF can provide a faster time-to-market because it reduces the burden and expense of writing and maintaining Internet applications. The complete, ready-to-integrate device server allows you to enhance your product while you focus on developing its core features. It is designed into a rugged industrial chassis that can be a desktop unit or panel mounted for application versatility."

The MultiConnect WF (approx. 3.5" x 2" x 1") comes equipped with two interfaces: one conforming to the IEEE 802.11b Wi-Fi standard, and a second one meeting the RS-232 standard via a DB9 connector. It supports ARP, DHCP client, DNS, FTP client, ICMP (ping), IP, POP3, SMTP, TCP and UDP protocols. The MultiConnect WF device server integrates a processor, proprietary operating system, and complete TCP/IP stack. Its chassis includes numerous LEDs for visual monitoring of link activity, operational status and power. It is available with external or RS-232 power options. The MultiConnect WF device server comes with flash memory for easy firmware updates allowing the user to stay current the latest enhancements that Multi-Tech has to offer.
