Guide Troughs Enable Smooth, Reduced Friction Operation

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. - February 12, 2008- igus® Inc., the leading developer of cable management systems, continuous-flex cables and high-performance plastic bearings, offers guide troughs for Energy Chain® cable carriers. Guide troughs enable igus' Energy Chains and Energy Tubes to operate smoothly and with reduced friction over long travel lengths exceeding 16 feet.

Guide troughs are available in steel or aluminum and can be custom designed for an application. Aluminum troughs are ideal for outdoor and wash down applications, as they are corrosion-resistant, while steel troughs are well suited for lighter loads and customers looking for a more cost-efficient solution.

Guide troughs are available through igus as separate components or fully assembled systems. They also can come equipped with glide bars, which are installed in the trough for the Energy Chain or tube to glide along. Glide bars are made of abrasion-resistant polymer and virtually eliminate noise and friction.

Energy Chains are all-plastic cable carriers that guide, protect and extend the service life of cables and hoses attached to automated machinery, primarily in mobile applications. Also offered by igus are Chainflex® continuous-flex cables: the perfect partner for Energy Chains.
