DPCSS upgrades SAW-based radars.

January 23, 2008 - Model CI BM7xx digital pulse compression sub-system (DPCSS) comes with chirp generator (transmitter) and compressor (receiver) modules at intermediate frequency (IF). Combining FPGAs for signal processing and analog I/O for IF of SAW, signal processor is self-consistent, and needs only dc supply voltage for operation. All pulse compression parameters such as center frequency, bandwidth, time dispersion, modulation law, and weighting function are programmable.

Temex's Digital Pulse Compression Sub-System, the CI BM7XX, Upgrades Saw-Based Radars

Chicago, January 15, 2008

Temex, a world leader in the design and manufacturing of frequency solutions for the defense and space industries, announces the launch of a new digital pulse compression sub-system (DPCSS) with chirp generator (transmitter) and compressor (receiver) modules at intermediate frequency (IF): the CI BM7xx. This DPCSS with analog I/Os enables upgrades of SAW-based radars by increasing overall system performance.

The CI BM7xx comes from Temex's 30 years of experience in the design and manufacturing of high-performance signal processors. Combining the latest generation field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) for signal processing and the analog input and output for the IF of the SAW, this signal processor is an excellent replacement solution for currently operating SAW-based radars. High-speed digital signal processing removes all the inherent limitations of SAW analog nature and improves performances of side lobes level (which is now like the theory), differential phase between receiver channels (which is now perfect). Temex's digital solution lowers power consumption in comparison to oven devices.

This pulse compression sub-system is self-consistent and needs only a DC supply voltage for operation. All the pulse compression parameters such as center frequency, bandwidth, time dispersion, modulation law, weighting function are programmable.

Main characteristics of the new Temex CI BM7xx:

o Instantaneous dynamic range (low side lobe level)

o Accurate angular measurements (angle of arrival)

o Flexibility (programmable parameters), etc.

o I/O frequency: up to 120 MHz (center frequency + half bandwidth)

Availability:
CI BM7xx prototypes are available for system validations. For further information, please contact Temex's marketing department directly at marcom@temex.com.

Custom design:
Temex designs and develops per customers' requests. Its digital signal processing solutions for SAW sub-system upgrade of pulse compression radars range from digital expanders, digital compressors, to digital pulse compression sub-systems. Temex can retrofit only expander or compressor, or the whole pulse compression sub-system.

About Temex:
Temex is a global leading designer and manufacturer of total value-added frequency management solutions. Temex offers advanced high-performance products, ranging from crystal filter and oscillator components to signal processing and frequency solutions for systems used in defense and space applications industries. Temex has its headquarters in the heart of the technological park of Sophia-Antipolis and its manufacturing plant in Troyes, France.
