Automatic Voltage Control suits electrostatic precipitators.

January 11, 2008 - Model SQ-300i(TM) uses spark response algorithm to control delivery of electrical power to discharge electrodes by controlling power input to transformer rectifier. Automatic voltage control features communication network that facilitates spark recognition and control, onboard 5 trace oscilloscopes for triggering of events, and optional full-color touchscreen operator interface. Unit can import and consolidate key information to Windows®-based application.

GE Energy Announces Latest Version of Its Automatic Voltage Control

KANSAS CITY, MO. - October 9, 2007 - GE Energy introduces the SQ-300i(TM) automatic voltage control (AVC), the completely redesigned AVC for electrostatic precipitators.

The SQ-300i, like the original SQ-300(TM), serves as the "heartbeat" of the electrostatic precipitator control system, using a proprietary spark response algorithm to control the delivery of electrical power to discharge electrodes by controlling power input to a transformer rectifier.

The redesigned SQ-300i incorporates the following new features:

Faster, more reliable communication network that results in better spark recognition and control that can enable ESP's to function more efficiently

Onboard five trace oscilloscope allows for triggering of events such as sparking, which means the automatic voltage control cabinet can stay closed, supporting promoting the safety of personnel

The ability to import and consolidate key information to a Windows®-based application simplifying maintenance, performance and troubleshooting

An optional full-color touchscreen operator interface, which can be connected to one or multiple controllers provides quick system access that is easy to use for at-a-glance system monitoring

The cost-effective design is simple to configure and flexible enough to build the system to be as elaborate or as simple as needed

It can store up to a week's worth of data using onboard storage data.

"GE Energy's new SQ-300i AVC can improve precipitator performance by providing one of the industry's fastest spark responses," said Dan Heintzelman, president of GE Energy's services business. "In most cases, application of this product allows customers greater productivity while maintaining emissions, resulting in energy cost savings."

Electrostatic precipitators are designed to use electrostatic fields to capture dust and particulate matter from flue gas streams. They are used primarily with industrial and utility coal boilers, but are also used with various industrial applications such as cement kilns, steel furnaces, paper mill recovery boilers and more. Previous versions of the SQ-200(TM) and SQ-300(TM) AVC products have been in operation for approximately 30 years with a solid reputation for reliability and quality.

Preceding SQ versions will continue to be supported through service and replacement parts.
