Imaging System provides multispectral analysis.

December 18, 2007 - Nuance 2 converts any brightfield or fluorescent microscope into multispectral imaging workstation. Flex(TM) liquid crystal tunable filter provides spectral imaging from 420-720 nm (VIS model) and 500-950 nm (GNIR model), covering full range of available chromogenic dyes and in vitro fluorophores. CCD cooling allows for low-light imaging, while analytical software offers spectral unmixing tools, including Real Component Analysis(TM) algorithm, which automatically identifies spectral signatures.

CRi Announces Nuance 2, the Next-Generation Multispectral Imaging System for Brightfield and Fluorescent-Based Microscopy

WOBURN, Mass., Dec. 10 / -- Cambridge Research & Instrumentation, Inc. (CRi) announces the launch of Nuance 2, the affordable, breakthrough system that converts any brightfield or fluorescent microscope into a multispectral imaging workstation. For multispectral imaging analysis of a larger specimens, such as embryos, zebrafish, plants, tissue culture and microtiter plates, the Nuance 2 can be mounted onto a fluorescent macroscope. The Nuance 2 system will be showcased at the upcoming San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium from December 13th through December 16th in San Antonio, Texas.

The sleekly designed Nuance 2 features new analytical software providing the user with enhanced spectral unmixing tools and more efficient CCD cooling for better low-light imaging. Spectral library building is now easier, using the Real Component Analysis(TM) (RCA) algorithm to automatically identify spectral signatures and the new Compute Spectra(TM) feature to properly identify true spectral signatures when combined or overlapping. Nuance sensitivity has been improved allowing discrimination of co-localized markers, even when present in different amounts, and reports the relative amounts of each marker and the percentage of each co-localized marker within the sample. At the heart of the Nuance 2 is the Flex(TM) liquid crystal tunable filter (LCTF) which provides fast, accurate spectral imaging from 420 to 720 nm (VIS model) and 500 to 950 nm (GNIR model), covering the full range of available chromogenic dyes and in vitro fluorophores.

"We are very excited about the Nuance 2 Multispectral Imaging System," says James Mansfield, Director of Multispectral Imaging Systems at CRi. "From its new industrial design, optimized optics and user-friendly software tools, this system was designed and developed with the customers' needs in mind. Along with our award winning Maestro(TM) In Vivo imaging systems, CRi offers a full spectrum of imaging solutions for our customers."
