ROCHESTER, N.Y., Sept. 7-A new level of collaboration and quality control for monitor proofing is now possible with the introduction of the KODAK Smart Review System. The system streams data intelligently and produces highly accurate previews, all while allowing monitor proofing, imaging, and collaboration in an integrated fashion through third party applications and workflows.
The Smart Review System brings together a powerful set of professional proofing and collaboration tools, including an easy to use navigation window, densitometer and measurement tools, on the fly panning and zooming, image rotation, and approval. It can be used with a variety of graphics arts file formats.
Solutions that incorporate the Smart Review System enable users to follow projects throughout the entire approval process, tracking changes, comments and events, making project turnaround times quicker and more efficient.
The Smart Review System includes server based software for imaging and file management and the KODAK Smart Review Proofing Client. A robust and flexible Applications Programming Interface (API) allows it to be integrated into a variety of solutions with a comprehensive set of function calls.
"The Smart Review System allows users to collaborate, measure, check color, and output to a hard copy proofing device," said Pat Lord, Product Manager, Portal Products, Kodak's Graphic Communications Group. "By working seamlessly behind third party interfaces, the system provides customers with application continuity."
The Smart Review System works by streaming from a server to the user's monitor, sending only the data required to view the requested region of the image at a given zoom level. This allows even very large files to be proofed and reviewed quickly and easily over standard Internet connections without the need to transfer the entire file.
KODAK MATCHPRINT Virtual Technology is available as an option to the Smart Review System, allowing images to be proofed and displayed with accurate color on qualified monitors.
Kodak built the Smart Review System with security in mind. The system provides secure operation through measures such as token based sessions, secured (SSL) operation, and session logging on reporting to help ensure secure communication.
