Emerson Network Power Introduces Simple, Scalable Liebert NX UPS Platform
The Liebert NX UPS with Softscale(TM) will be showcased at Emerson's AdaptiveXchange 2007(TM), November 29-30
Columbus, Ohio [October 29, 2007] - Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR) and the global leader in enabling Business-Critical Continuity(TM), today introduced the new Liebert NX UPS with Softscale(TM) technology, which combines the industry's most flexible approach to scalability with an efficiency rating of up to 97 percent.
Designed for small and medium size data centers that are facing unpredictable changes in their IT systems, the Liebert NX with Softscale can be sized to current requirements and then easily scaled with a simple software key as needs change. Modules can adapt from 40 kVA to 60 kVA to 80 kVA or from 80 kVA to 100 kVA to 120 kVA. In addition, modules with different ratings can work in parallel to handle higher capacities. For example, an 80 kVA and 120 kVA module can work together to support 200 kVA of equipment.
The 97 percent efficiency rating of the Liebert NX with Softscale exceeds the 95 percent "state-of-the-art" designation published by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in its August 2007 data center energy efficiency report to Congress, making the UPS ideal for organizations seeking to increase data center efficiency and reduce energy costs.
"The Liebert NX with Softscale was designed to give IT managers the flexibility to add UPS capacity on demand while maintaining high efficiency levels, maximizing capital investments, and minimizing operational expenses," said Peter Panfil, vice president of power engineering, Liebert AC Power, Emerson Network Power. "Delivering on the promise of Liebert Adaptive Architecture, we've met these needs with a reliable, flexible and cost-effective UPS unit that enables a simpler, faster response to unpredictable changes in data center equipment without adding to the data center footprint."
With the standard IT rack form-factor, the new Liebert NX with Softscale can be positioned in a row of racks alongside the IT equipment it protects to optimize space utilization.
Start-up for the Liebert NX with Softscale includes one-year remote service delivery that provides monthly equipment health reports, alarm retrieval and warehousing, escalation management and 24 x 7 emergency response from the service business of Emerson Network Power. Remote service delivery helps customers evaluate whether equipment capacity meets current and future load needs, and proactively troubleshoots potential issues before they become major problems.
AdaptiveXchange 2007, November 29-30 at the Baltimore Convention Center, will provide an interactive forum for IT, data center and facilities managers to collaboratively identify best practices in managing the vital data centers that power today's online economy. This year's event features participation from technology manufacturers Dell, IBM and Panduit, among others; 28 technical sessions; and, 85,000 square feet of exhibit space showcasing simulated data center, computer room, telecommunications and remote network environments. The event will also showcase new technologies and services surrounding high-density blade-server cooling, high availability power protection and distribution, proactive performance monitoring, and more.
