New Ultra-Low Profile Light Grids from Pepperl+Fuchs Ideal for Elevator Doorway Monitoring

TWINSBURG, OH - Pepperl+Fuchs introduces AL21 Series Ultra Low-Profile Light Grids.

The AL21 provides automatic adaptation of the beam configuration for maximum resolution and superior coverage at close range. They are highly resistant to sunlight and other ambient light sources for maximum reliability and accuracy. Triple beam crossing is maintained during closed-door conditions, offering optimal coverage as the door is about to close.

The AL21 features a compact 9mm wide housing with field height of 1800mm, while providing a sensing range of up to 3.5m. The system also features quick disconnect electrical connectivity, with 1 NPN and 1 PNP output. No external amplifier and no interconnecting wires between the transmitter and receiver are required, which facilitates fast and simple setup. Alignment of the transmitter and receiver housings is easy due to the large operating angle of the light beams.

The AL21 light grid allows accurate and affordable non-contact detection of people and objects moving over a threshold. The system consists of a paired array of infrared transmitter elements in one housing, and an array of receiver elements in a separate housing. Optical synchronization allows the receiver to recognize only light from its corresponding transmitter(s), but not from other transmitters on the grid. When a target breaks one or more beams, the receiver no longer sees light from its corresponding transmitter(s) and triggers the output to change state.
