Teseq's New NSG 437 ESD Simulator with Reduced Feature Set, Retains Full Compliance Performance

EDISON, N.J., August 2007 - Teseq Inc., a leading developer and provider of instrumentation and test systems for EMC emission and immunity, has introduced its new 30kV ESD simulator, the NSG 437, which retains full compliance performance to meet major global ESD standards and offers a reduced feature set, resulting in a lower price.

The new simulator guarantees optimized reproducibility of a test by meeting the holding time of at least five seconds required by the global ESD standards. The simulator's proper tip voltage is assured by a feedback system that continuously monitors the actual tip voltage and adds charge to the discharge network as needed in order to hold the tip voltage constant for up to 5 seconds or longer, limited only by the simulator's control program. In addition, a number of specialized rigid and flexible discharge tips are available for diverse applications in the automotive, consumer electronics, telecommunications, medical, aerospace and defense industries.

During both air and contact-discharge operation, the NSG 437 generates pulses of 200 V up to 30 kV. The whole range of parameter setting possibilities, including polarity selection, counter functions and breakdown detection, remains fully available up to the maximum discharge voltage. The simulator also features a broad range of easily interchangeable network modules with resistance values from zero ohms and a capacitance up to the nF-range. The networks can be simply pushed into place in seconds enabling the NSG 437 to meet applications that require multiple R/C network combinations, such as those found in the automotive industry.

With its wide operating voltage range and array of applications, the simulator contains a threshold detector to eliminate faulty discharge counts. When discharges are detected, the counter or preset counter is incremented or decremented respectively, which is a particularly useful feature for long test runs. The detection feature can be switched off when testing EUT's with non-conductive surfaces, such as plastic housings.

The simulator features a touch panel display, including a keypad for parameter setting and control, which readily shows the precise functional and test data. Its essential functions and actual status are also displayed with user-selectable language for convenient and safe operation. In addition, the pre-programmed settings for IEC/EN 61000-4-2 and ISO 10605 ensure that the simulator is automatically set up correctly and the menu retains its settings, which are displayed after the completion of a test sequence.

The complete solution comes with the NSG 437 generator, a 150pF/330 Ohm network, air and contact discharge tips, user manual and calibration data. In addition, Teseq provides a traceable calibration certificate with each simulator.

Accredited calibration services are also available from Teseq calibration labs upon request.

Pricing for a NSG 437 starts at $9,900. Delivery is 2 - 4 weeks ARO.
