Toshiba White LEDs from Marktech Provide Low Power Alternative to Conventional Lighting

Latham, New York: Marktech announces that Toshiba has expanded its family of white LEDs with a new device that can provide a typical flux of 30lm from a drive current of only 250mA. The new TL12W01-D surface mount LED has dimensions of just 10.5mm x 5.0mm x 2.1mm and will be ideal for many domestic and commercial lighting applications that have conventionally used incandescent bulbs. In addition, it is anticipated that designers will choose these compact devices for space-limited designs that require high-brightness LCD backlighting.

The new LED is able to deliver typical performance of 35lm/W thanks to a low thermal resistance package that provides improved heat release characteristics. Typical forward voltage for the new device is rated at 3.4V (at a forward current of 250mA). A wide operating temperature range of -40°C to 100°C ensures suitability for a broad range of commercial, domestic, industrial and automotive applications.

Designed for use with automated lead-free (Pb-free) production lines, the new surface mount device is compatible with reflow soldering processes at temperatures up to 260°C.
