DVI/HDMI Switch operates from single +3.0 to +3.6 V supply.

August 16, 2007 - Featuring common-mode signal range that enables rail-to-rail signal switching at data rates in excess of 4 Gbps, Model MAX4886 enables video sources to be switched without compromising signal integrity. It contains 4 differential pairs of 1:2 or 2:1 switches for multiplexing/demultiplexing RGB and CLK video signals. Based on MOSFET architecture, unit provides 2.5 pF on-capacitance and 8 W on-resistance, which helps meet stringent digital-switching requirements.

Quad, High-Speed, High-Bandwidth HDMI/DVI Switch Maintains Signal Integrity and Doubles the Number of Inputs

The MAX4886 is a quad, high-speed DVI/HDMI digital video switch.

It enables video sources to be switched without compromising signal integrity.

The differential switches are based on an n-channel MOSFET architecture with an internal charge pump for gate overdrive. This advanced architecture produces the extremely low capacitance and on-resistance that is required to meet the low-insertion-loss requirements for digital switching.

The MAX4886 is ideal for applications that require switching signals from one of two driving sources and connecting them to a single monitor.

SUNNYVALE, CA-July 2, 2007-Maxim Integrated Products (NASDAQ: MXIM) introduces the MAX4886 quad, high-speed, high-bandwidth, HDMI(TM)/DVI(TM) passive switch capable of switching between two digital video signals into a single monitor or multiple HDMI/DVI connectors while maintaining a high level of signal integrity. To ensure signal integrity at fast switching rates, the MAX4886 features a wide common-mode signal range that enables rail-to-rail signal switching at data rates in excess of 4Gbps. As a result, this exciting new product provides a high level of performance for general-purpose, differential-switching applications such as full line-rate Gigabit Ethernet, Fibre Channel, and telecom/networking LVDS-based backplanes. Moreover, the MAX4886's ability to multiplex two HDMI/DVI video streams into a single port enables the design engineer to address multiple applications in the consumer video and PC marketplace, such as desktop PCs, HDTVs, digital projectors, and other video applications.

The MAX4886 contains four differential pairs of 1:2 or 2:1 switches for multiplexing/demultiplexing RGB and CLK video signals in HDMI/DVI switching applications. Based on n-channel MOSFET architecture, these switches include an efficient, internal charge pump, resulting in very low quiescent current for power-sensitive designs. Due to this advanced architecture, the MAX4886 provides extremely low 2.5pF on-capacitance and 8W on-resistance, which enables it to meet stringent digital-switching requirements.

The MAX4886 operates from a single +3.0V to +3.6V supply and is fully specified over the extended -40°C to +85°C temperature range. It is available in a space-saving, 3.5mm x 9.0mm, 42-pin TQFN package. Pricing starts at $1.50 (1000-up, FOB USA).
