Emerson Introduces Rosemount® Analytical X-STREAM(TM) in Situ Oxygen Analyzer
Accuracy and reliability of revolutionary zirconium oxide analyzer helps customer operate boilers and furnaces more efficiently and with lower emissions
SOLON, OHIO (June 22, 2007) - Emerson Process Management recently introduced its latest innovation in zirconium oxide, in situ oxygen analyzers - the Rosemount® Analytical X-STREAM(TM) Oxygen Transmitter. Built from Emerson's industry expertise and the latest Rosemount Analytical technology, the X-STREAM Oxygen Transmitter integrates an oxygen probe and field electronics into a single, compact package with unprecedented reliability.
"The enhanced system performance of our X-STREAM AccuMax(TM) offers the best accuracy and stability of any analyzer we have ever produced," said Doug Simmers, product manager for Rosemount Analytical.
According to Simmers, today's sustained fuel price increases are causing customers to operate boilers and furnaces with less excess oxygen in their flue gas in order to maintain the best efficiency, and also to lower nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions.
"Boiler operators are often hesitant to run at low oxygen levels," said Simmers. "So, with the X-STREAM oxygen analyzer, we've added on-line diagnostics that predict when calibration is required; and new sensing technology provides an indication of oxygen deficiency during upsets when reducing conditions (zero percent oxygen) may occur."
Emerson has also increased maximum flue gas temperature specifications to 850˚C (1562˚F) on the X-STREAM oxygen analyzer, permitting the placement of the probe closer to the actual combustion process. Integral electronics minimize the cabling and installation cost and the Rosemount Analytical Oxycore(TM) active sensing core can be replaced in minutes without unbolting the probe flange or disconnecting the electrical terminations or pneumatic lines.
"These new technologies make the X-STREAM analyzer less costly to install, operate and maintain," Simmers said. "The X-STREAM oxygen analyzer is the most accurate and stable flue gas instrument available, and also offers the lowest cost to install, operate and maintain."
The X-STREAM Oxygen Transmitter also uses HART® Communications with EDDL protocol, which provides a link to Emerson Process Management's PlantWeb® digital architecture. Setup, calibration and service diagnostics can be performed remotely with the HART 375 Hand-held Communicator, AMS or via an optional single- or dual-channel Xi Enhanced Interface which carries advanced features such as automatic calibration, extended process temperature to 1,562°F, a built-in stoichiometer feature and programmable reference.
Additional features and benefits include:
o AccuMax enhanced system performance
o Accuracy ±75% of reading or ±.05 oxygen
o Calibration validity of better than .02%
o Adaptability to most existing oxygen probe installations
o Two-wire, loop-powered electronics
o Advanced sensor diagnostics, including calibration recommended
o Simplified sensor core replacements (completed in minutes)
o Two-year cell warranty
The latest innovation from Emerson, the Rosemount Analytical X-STREAM Oxygen Transmitter is intended for measuring residual oxygen remaining in the flue gases from any combustion process, including boilers, process heaters, kilns, recovery boilers and reheat furnaces.
