The AIRcable Host XR: The Only Long-Range (10 Km-Class) Bluetooth® USB Dongle
Santa Cruz, CA-June 12, 2007 - Wireless Cables, Inc. is pleased to announce its next-generation Bluetooth device, the AIRcable Host XR. Equipped with an extremely powerful, highly sensitive Bluetooth transmitter, the device can achieve an unparalleled range of up to 30 km with professional installation. With a 9 dBi omni-directional antenna, the extended range is up to 2 km, and with an 18 dBi directional antenna, it is up to 10 km. Additionally, given its high sensitivity, it can extend the range of weaker Bluetooth devices like cell phones and headsets by hundreds of meters. With most other Bluetooth devices only capable of obtaining a range 10 m or less, no other device comes even close. Its high sensitivity and long-range can extend the range of shorter-range Bluetooth devices up to 100 m. The AIRcable Host XR easily attaches to any computer with a USB port, giving it long-range capabilities. And it works seamlessly with Windows, Mac and Linux supporting virtually any Bluetooth profile available. Uses include standard data, streaming data, headsets communication (like Skype calls), and stereo headphone communication, amongst others.
When used in conjunction with the AIRcable Industrial XR, the combination results in a powerful, affordable, scalable solution for the deployment of wireless sensor networks. For remote applications, data can be logged while the AIRcable Industrial XR waits for a connection across which to transmit it-such as when a service truck with a computer and AIRcable Host XR comes within 10 km of its location. All of this long-range, wireless interoperability is possible via the AIRcable Host XR's and the AIRcable Industrial XR's extremely powerful and sensitive, standards-based Bluetooth communication technology.
