Software prevents leaking of confidential 3D data.

June 26, 2007 - XVL Studio v7.0 3D data editing software includes XVLstaff that grants access to files for external sharing and captures unwanted access to data by tracing operation history. It also enables forced expiration of previously distributed 3D data. Users can apply security to Adobe PDF and XVL documents, extending management to their 3D documents. Software also enables change and ongoing management of XVL file's security setting after distributing it externally.

Lattice Technology and Hitachi Software Engineering Release New Secure 3D Data Product

San Francisco June 5, 2007 -- Lattice Technology, Inc., developers of the XVL ultra-compressed 3D data format, announced today the release date of its newest software application, XVLstaff aimed to prevent leaking of confidential 3D data. XVLstaff was developed jointly with Hitachi Software Engineering, and will be available in Japan via both companies starting in July 2007. XVLstaff will be included with Lattice's signature 3D data editing product, XVL Studio 7.0.

XVL compression on CAD models, developed by Lattice Technologies, has ushered in the practical use of 3D data in a myriad of downstream uses such as design review, production management, and logistics. Given the new, broader use of design documentation through XVL, the secure management of intellectual property is becoming more of a widespread concern. For the high security management of 3D data, XVLstaff grants access to files for external sharing and captures unwanted access to the data by tracing operation history. The product also enables forced expiration of previously distributed 3D data.

Now employed throughout the manufacturing industry, XVL (eXtensible Virtual world description Language) is an ultra-lightweight 3D data format, preserving accurate geometric and annotation content at a tiny fraction of the size of the original CAD file. The entire product design review process - dispersed around the world -- can now be achieved through digital means.

With this new portability comes the need for control. Lattice and Hitachi Software Engineering cooperated with Adobe Systems, creating similar security protocols that are used in Adobe® LiveCycle(TM) Policy Server(APS), a system of security management for Adobe PDF Portable Document Format files. With the new XVLstaff, an XVL file is protected securely much like Adobe PDF with APS.

One of the most important features of the new application compared to XVL Signer, is that it enables the change and ongoing management of an XVL file's security setting after distributing it externally.

"XVLstaff is a fantastic addition to XVL Studio 7.0" says Lattice Technology's US General Manager Bill Barnes. "Clients already vested with APS can apply security not only to Adobe PDF but to their XVL documents, extending management to their 3D documents."
