Viking InterWorks(TM) Targets High-Density Market with 8GB DDR2 VLP DIMMS

RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, Calif., April 30 -- Viking InterWorks(TM), Inc., a Sanmina-SCI Company (NASDAQ:SANM) and designer and manufacturer of memory modules, today announced it is offering a full line of DDR2 VLP 240-pin Registered DIMMs. With a height of 0.72" (18.3mm) and speeds up to 667MHz, these VLP DIMMs will be available in densities of 512MB, 1GB, 2GB, 4GB and an industry-leading 8GB.

The RoHS-compliant 8GB modules have been designed to use 1GB DDR2 DRAM stacked 4 high utilizing Viking InterWorks' propriety RAM-Stack(TM) chip stacking technology. The main advantages of the RAM-Stack product compared to other stacking techniques are its superior thermal performance, excellent signal integrity at high speed and reliability at higher temperatures.

"These RoHS-compliant 8GB 4 Rank DDR2 VLP DIMMs are aimed primarily at the high-density server market. We have also released a line of RAM-Stack based Mini RDIMMs for the communications market," said Adrian Proctor, Vice President of Marketing for Viking InterWorks." The advantages of RAM-Stack are very exciting and Viking InterWorks is able to provide OEMs with reliable, thermally superior high-density modules."

This innovative approach to stacking memory components places DRAM die on a ceramic substrate with carefully controlled thermal coefficient of expansion, resulting in a cost effective and highly reliable method of stacking. These DDR2 4GB RAM-Stack devices are an extension of previously released and highly successful DDR1 range.

Viking InterWorks continues to advance its technology leadership role by proactively developing products required for the server, telecommunications and embedded markets.
