ETU-9C00-SFF is a multi-purpose full band tunable optical transceiver module for 10 Gbps DWDM Long Reach telecom and datacom applications. Design provides wave-locked 50 GHz channel spacing on the ITU-grid and is tunable across entire C- band. It is suited for high performance telecom applications that require SDH STM-64, SONET OC-192, or 10GBASE-ZR transmission. Mach-Zehnder transmitter supports applications requiring less than 2 dB dispersion penalty through 100 km of fiber.
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., March 27 -- EMCORE Corporation (NASDAQ:EMKR), a leading provider of compound semiconductor-based components and subsystems for the broadband, fiber optic, satellite, and solar power markets, today announced the live demonstration and subsequent release to sampling of its Full Band Tunable Long Reach Small Form Factor Transponder for 10 Gigabit Applications. The new model ETU-9C00-SFF will be demonstrated to selected customers for the 2007 Optical Fiber Conference (OFC) in Anaheim, CA.
This product marks the continued expansion of EMCORE's market leading portfolio of parallel VCSEL and LX4 optical modules for the 300m multimode market into the long reach 10 Gbps application space. The ETU-9C00-SFF is a multi-purpose full band tunable optical transceiver module for 10 Gbps DWDM Long Reach telecom and datacom applications. The design provides wave-locked 50 GHz channel spacing on the ITU-grid and is tunable across the entire C- band. It is ideally suited for high performance telecom applications that require SDH STM-64, SONET OC-192, or 10GBASE-ZR transmission.
"We are excited about quickly expanding our DWDM product portfolio with this full C-Band tunable product for the 100 km regime," said Stephen Krasulick, R&D Director at EMCORE Fiber Optics Division. "We believe this is the first commercially available product to integrate full band tuning at 50 GHz spacing into the 300pin small form factor package. This product allows our customers to take the next step in packaging density, while maintaining very high performance with fast microsecond-range tuning."
The Mach-Zehnder transmitter supports zero chirp and negative chirp options, and supports applications requiring less than 2dB dispersion penalty through 100km of fiber. The design is fully compliant with the 300 pin SFF multisource agreement as well as the European Union's RoHS 6 requirements.
According to CIR, a leading industry analyst firm, tunable lasers will be the fastest growing major segment of the components market, reaching almost one billion dollars by 2012.
EMCORE's C-Band tunable ETU-9C00-SFF is currently sampling. It will be followed quickly by the full L-Band tunable ETU-9L00-SFF in Q2, 2007.
