Computer-On-Module supports Intel® Core(TM) 2 Duo processor.


April 4, 2007 - Suited for temperature and power sensitive small embedded applications, ETXexpress-CD product line supports Intel® Core(TM)2 Duo processor T7400 in addition to Intel® Core(TM) Duo processor, Mobile Intel® 945 GM Express chipset, and ICH7M Southbridge. Supporting up to 2 GB of DDR2-SDRAM, SBC features up to 5 PCI Express x1 lanes and 1x GB Ethernet, 2 serial and 1 parallel ATA interfaces, PCI plus LPC, 8 USB 2.0, along with CRT and LVDS outputs for color monitors and displays.

Kontron ETXexpress-CD Now an Improved Fit for Energy-Efficient Embedded Applications

San Diego and Nuremberg, Germany, February 13, 2007 - Kontron announced at Embedded World 2007 the update of the Kontron ETXexpress-CD Computer-On-Module to now support the new Intel® Core(TM) 2 Duo processor. Built around the energy-efficient Intel processor, the COM Express compliant Kontron ETXexpress-CD is an improved fit for the multitude of small embedded applications that are temperature and power sensitive.

The Kontron ETXexpress-CD product line now supports the Intel® Core(TM)2 Duo processor T7400 (2x 2.16GHz, 4MB L2 cache, TDP 34W) in addition to the Intel® Core(TM) Duo processor along with the Mobile Intel® 945 GM Express chipset, and the ICH7M Southbridge. It can support up to 2GB of DDR2-SDRAM. The Kontron ETXexpress-CD features up to 5x PCI Express x1 lanes and 1x Gigabit Ethernet in addition to legacy support for PCI plus LPC, 8x USB 2.0, 2x Serial ATA, and 1x Parallel ATA interfaces.

CRT and LVDS outputs are available to drive high resolution for true color monitors and displays. Support for PCI Express based graphics cards for video-intensive applications also is available. A family feature inherited from Kontron's ETX Computer-On-Modules, ETXexpress modules and customizable carrier boards offer "plug and work" LCD display support with readily available adapter cables based on Kontron's JILI interface.

Kontron anticipates having samples of the ETXexpress-CD with the Intel Core 2 Dup processor available by the Q2/ 2007.

Baseboard Designs Included as Needed

OEMs that not only use modules or boards from Kontron, but want to outsource the entire hardware design including carrier board design, can access Kontron's Boards & MORE Custom Solutions und Services. Here, experienced developers implement the latest interface technology on carrier boards for COMs and develop customized single-board computers. Numerous layouts have already been successfully realized in the last few years and mass-produced. Many customers use Kontron's Boards & MORE service in order to be able to use their resources even more effectively for their know-how. Close contact with the customer's developer team and professional project management during the entire product life bring the user further relief.
