Finesse Introduces the TruCell2(TM) Cell Density Sensor

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Feb. 26 -- Finesse, LLC, Santa Clara, CA, a manufacturer of measurement and control solutions for life science process applications, announced the general availability of its next generation TruCell2(TM) cell density sensor. TruCell2(TM) is the life science industry's first cell density solution that is easy to use, has a cost comparable to dissolved oxygen and delivers best-in-class performance and reliability. Furthermore, a NIST-traceable validation kit allows verification testing of TruCell2(TM) sensors for cGMP compliance.

The design of TruCell2(TM) encompasses two distinct components: an intelligent transmitter and a sensor utilizing the same VCSEL technology as the original TruCell(TM) product.

The sensor's innovative design enables measurements with unprecedented precision, zero drift, and dynamic range. The sensors have been statistically tested to show survivability as well as measurement repeatability through 50 autoclave cycles at 134 degrees C. Moreover, TruCell2(TM) sensors are fully FDA USP class VI compliant.

The transmitter is not only small and rugged, but is also CE and NEMA4X certified. Its intuitive user interface brings the look-and-feel of traditional pH or DO to cell density measurements, while providing intelligent algorithms for automatic zeroing, curve fitting, and for the first time, temperature compensation. Additionally, the intelligent nature of the transmitter permits the effortless changing of sensors based on the process application.

"Finesse has always been committed to building a superior cell density sensor for the life science industry. TruCell2(TM) was designed and built according to the strictest standards for performance and reliability, and upholds Finesse's pledge of providing high quality products," said Dr. Alfred Riddle, V.P. of Hardware at Finesse.

"With the introduction of TruCell2(TM) we have made the measurement of cell density in the bioreactor a reality, not a luxury," added Larry West, Exec. V.P. of Sales & Marketing at Finesse. "At a loop price on par with dissolved oxygen, and with the benefits TruCell2(TM) brings in the improvement of process control, this product has generated a very positive response from the marketplace," stated West.
