Respirator protects individuals against airborne viruses.

January 31, 2007 - Implanted with TriosynŽ resin filter layer, Safe Life Respirator ensures safety and continuity of business services in event of pandemics, bioterrorism, and environmental disasters. Resin enhances capture performance by increasing surface area of each filter fiber, while molecular makeup of resin expresses electrochemical charge that pulls microorganisms out of airflow. Models T-3000(TM) and T-5000(TM) are certified P95 by NIOSH.

Safe Life Launches New Generation of Disposable Respirators for Increased Protection Against Viruses

Unique Mechanism of Capture Shown to Protect Against Airborne Viruses in Extensive Laboratory Testing

SAN DIEGO, Jan. 24 -- Safe Life Corp. today announced the worldwide launch of a new generation of disposable respirators designed to provide increased protection against airborne viruses, including avian flu. Safe Life's innovative respirator is a new and improved disposable facemask with a novel microbial filter that stops airborne diseases and viral threats. The technology, developed by Triosyn Research Laboratories, a division of Safe Life, is designed to protect individuals against dangerous and deadly diseases in order to preserve health and safety and ensure the continuity of business and essential services in the event of pandemics, bioterrorism and environmental disasters.

The result of more than 15 years of research and development, Safe Life respirators with patented Triosyn technology have been proven in extensive laboratory testing to remove 99.99% of organisms from the air. The Triosyn filter has been rigorously tested by the U.S. Air Force, Health Canada, Nelson Laboratories, and other world-renowned third-party research institutions.

Each Safe Life Respirator is implanted with a specially-designed filter layer containing TriosynŽ resin, a patented technology that is embedded within the fibers of the filter. Triosyn resin provides a unique mechanism of capture that stops microorganisms on contact, providing a safe, clean and unrestricted air flow through the mask filter. Registered with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Triosyn resin greatly enhances the capture performance by increasing the surface area of each filter fiber, while the molecular makeup of the resin expresses an electrochemical charge that pulls microorganisms out of the airflow.

"In the event of a global pandemic or bioterrorist threat, the best possible equipment will be essential to protecting our nation's workforce, especially those providing vital protection services, such as first responders, healthcare workers, police and government agencies," said Richard Jaffe, Chairman and CEO of Safe Life. "Safe Life's new generation of innovative facemasks fills a major gap in the need for advanced respiratory protection against viruses and viral pandemics like the bird flu. No other facemask can provide such a high level of respiratory protection against viral threats."

The inadequacy of current facemasks in providing protection of airborne viruses was studied by Anna Balazy of the Department of Health-Related Aerosol Studies at the University of Cincinnati. Published in the American Journal of Infection Control (March 2006), Balazy's research found that surgical masks and N95 respirators do not provide adequate protection against viruses, which are smaller than the particles used in N95 certification tests.

Safe Life's line of respirators, including the T-3000(TM) and T-5000(TM), provide protection beyond that of N95 respirators and are certified P95, an enhanced level of protection, by the U.S. National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH).

A recent research study, audited by Claude Lamarre, researcher at The Pasteur Institute's Department of Microbiology, and published in Urgence Pratique (November 2006) found Safe Life's facemasks provided superior protection to the competitor products tested. This study demonstrated that the Safe Life T-3000 and T-5000 respirators have additional viral protection that is 100 times higher than that of masks rated FFP2, which is the equivalent of an N95 rating in the US, and the FFP3, an even higher rating. The study concluded that any masks below Safe Life's level of protection level would be insufficient at protecting against contraction of a pandemic virus.

Safe Life Disposable Respirators with Triosyn technology are currently in use by leading corporations, healthcare institutions, emergency medical services and government agencies, including Chevron North America, FEMA Medical Response Services, New England Emergency Management, Iowa Northland Regional Council, Maine Emergency Management Agency, Avnet, Inc., NW Natural Gas Company, Southern Nevada Health District, and FMS Veteran Affairs.
