Elpac Introduces 80 Watt Open Frame Medical Power Supplies

Highest Power Density in the Industry

IRVINE, Calif., Nov. 27 /- Elpac Electronics, Inc., a worldwide leader in accelerating the design and manufacture of superior- quality power supplies, custom docking stations and battery chargers, today announced the release of its new MSM80F series of 80 watt open frame power supplies for medical applications.

The new RoHS compliant models-which provide the highest power density in the industry (9w/in3)- feature Zero Voltage Switching (ZVS), synchronous output rectifiers, wide range AC input, and fully regulated output for use in a wide variety of mobile or portable medical applications. All models are backed by Elpac's industry-leading five-year warranty.

The MSM80F series includes four new models, each providing 80 watts of DC power at single outputs of 9, 12, 15, and 24 volts. Each model takes AC input from universal sources and provides fully regulated DC output. All medical agency and regulatory approvals have been completed, including UL2601-1, CE marking, and FCC Class B.

The new models meet 2008 CEC efficiency standards and zero load consumption, even at output voltages as low as 9 volts. The new series features an extended life of greater than seven years at maximum load. Additionally, the new 80 Watt series provides the longest hold-up time in the industry ( > 20ms @ 100Vac @ 80W) and the highest voltage dip immunity in any 2 x 4 medical power supply.

"We are increasingly seeing medical applications that call for more power with higher efficiency, which the MSM80F series addresses," said Marshall Wright, Elpac Chief Operating Officer. "We also continue to see medical equipment OEMs preferring to choose medical grade power supplies from a company known for making product with industry-leading quality, available fast, and backed by superior customer service."

The new models operate over an ambient temperature range of 0 to 50 degrees. All models contain over voltage, over current, and short circuit protection. A data sheet with complete technical specifications is available 24/7 at www.elpac.com.
