Model 1703GNB Spectral Personal Radiation Detector with Stand-Off Capability
Berkeley Nucleonics Corporation has introduced the Model 1703GNB Spectral-Gathering Personal Radiation Detector, a product for the US First Responder market designed by Polimaster Inc. This new class of instrumentation offers users of small pager-sized radiation detectors much needed new functionality to acquire and store spectroscopic data. For example, a network of 1703GNBs can be monitored from a remote location by management personnel, allowing timely response to developing events. The Model 1703GNB is an advancement to the 1703 family of radiation detection pagers. Its predecessor, the 1703GN, is widely recognized as the leading Gamma-Neutron Pager on the market.
Critical spectral data files may be wirelessly transmitted from the Model 1703GNB to any Windows® mobile compatible PDA. This stand-off detection functionality promotes personnel safety at an incident scene by allowing the user to place the device at the area of interest and move off to monitor safely.
The Model 1703GNB is also a component of a larger WMD Network Solution which includes a variety of web-based applications. This product is versatile enough to be added to almost any user's network of instruments. Decision Support System (DSS) and Global Mapping, software utilities from Polimaster, provide a broad range of informational support and decision-tree logic to the user community. Identification of a full suite of ANSI-recommended isotopes comes standard in the library. Data can be analyzed in real time by the First Responder or by his management team for disposition of false alarms.
