Sandvik Coromant Revolutionizes Cast Iron Milling with the New Insert Generation

New Grades Designed to Handle Various Operations in Highly Competitive Area

Fair Lawn, New Jersey, October 23, 2006 - Sandvik Coromant has introduced GC1020 and GC3220, two new grades ideal for cast iron milling. GC1020 and GC3220 are the latest innovations to join the company's new line of milling grade inserts. The new inserts are designed to achieve superior performance through improved toughness, wear resistance and versatility.

GC1020 and GC3220 are optimized for various operations in the cast iron milling area, but provide reliable and secure performance in other tough milling operations as well. Offered in a wide variety of inserts, both new grades will enhance already existing insert geometries, thus pushing the boundaries of cast iron milling productivity.

GC1020 is an ideal choice when machining nodular cast iron and wet cast iron. The insert uses a unique PVD coating to improve cutting speeds and wear resistance, making it especially reliable in unstable conditions.

GC3220 contains the thickest protective coating for a milling insert. As a result, the grade is a perfect choice for the dry machining of grey cast iron due to its high level of durability and wear resistance. GC3220 excels in shoulder milling and face milling, providing a smooth and reliable machining experience.
