New RT628 Composite Tube Offers Superior Machineability

POSTVILLE, IA - Norplex-Micarta announces RT628, a phenolic-paper composite tube material with superior machining characteristics. RT628 is less rigid than standard phenolic-paper tubing, reducing machining time and costs. RT628 provides both electrical insulation and moisture resistance, making it ideal for use in electrical or general-purpose applications such as: inserts, bushings, washers, rollers, collars, spacers, sleeves, guide tubes, and processing rollers. The machining properties of RT628 also make it ideal for smaller, more complex components that require challenging machining patterns.

Typical properties for the material are tensile strength of 12,300 psi, compressive strength of 22,500 psi, and moisture absorption of 1.3%. RT628 meets NEMA XX requirements.

RT628 is part of a wide range of Norplex-Micarta tubing products. Norplex-Micarta offers an assortment of tubing products that meet a variety of individual application requirements.
