Traditional string mop design offers benefits of microfiber
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (August 1, 2006) Unger Enterprises, Inc. today announced the introduction of its SmartColor String Mop Heavy Duty, an extra-absorbent microfiber string mop. Part of Unger's SmartColor System, the new string mop offers the same microfiber performance as the SmartColor Mop series, a line of various sized microfiber flat mops, but with the benefits of a traditional string mop design. The SmartColor String Mop is designed to clean floors with less water and chemicals.
"Unger has combined the bacteria-reducing benefits of microfiber and the productivity benefits of a traditional string mop into one cleaning tool," said Bruno Niklaus, Vice President Global Marketing, Unger Enterprises. "With the SmartColor String Mop, users will experience cleaner results over traditional mops and feel confident that they are mopping thoroughly.
Unger's new string mop is designed with looped ends and tailbands to increase performance and product life as well as offer greater floor coverage and control. The mop won't tangle while in use or during laundering. The mop's microfiber benefits include extreme liquid and dirt pick up as well as 96 percent bacteria reduction compared to traditional mops. The SmartColor String Mop dries floors faster and with no streaking.
"Unger has again applied the SmartColor color coding system to the new string mop," Niklaus said. "The four colors are for designating mops to a specific task or area of the building to clean. This helps prevent cross contamination and simplifies staff training."
The mop's three and a half-inch headband fits standard mop handles, holders and frames, and easily attaches to Unger's new String Mop Holder, which can be used with standard mop handles. The SmartColor String Mop Heavy Duty can be used with Unger's Dual Bucket System or any standard wringer.
About Microfiber
Made from fibers that are 1/100th the size of typical cloth fibers, microfiber is a single synthetic fiber extruded during the manufacturing process that results in extremely fine filaments that exceed the strength of conventional fibers. Each fiber is split 16 times into a "V"-shaped construction that is less than a micron in size and then knitted into a soft, reusable cleaning tool that is 30 times softer than cotton. The fibers' miniscule size allows them to reach deep into surface irregularities to capture dirt and germs, and studies show that microfiber reduces bacteria by 96 percent. It is also known to absorb more than seven times its weight in water.
