High-Strength Adhesive bonds thin metals.

April 10, 2002 - Metal Welder(TM) structural methacrylate adhesive is designed for bonding metal to other metals or to dissimilar substrates. It provides impact and peel resistance on bare, painted, plated or galvanized metals. Adhesive cures at room temperature in 1 hour. It produces permanent, load-bearing bonds that are resistant to weathering, humidity, temperatures to 250 deg F, and thermal shock. Tensile shear strength is 2450 psi with bond-line thickness of 0.010 in.

HIGH-STRENGTH ADHESIVE FOR BONDING THIN METALS

DANVERS, MA- Devcon Metal Welder(TM) is a structural methacrylate adhesive designed specifically for bonding metal to other metals or to dissimilar substrates such as ABS, PVC, plexiglass, PMMA, polycarbonate, polyesters, and FRP. Designed for metals such as aluminum, cold-rolled steel, stainless
steel, and copper, Metal Welder produces high-strength, durable bonds with superior impact and peel resistance on bare, painted, plated, or galvanized metals. It is ideal for OEM bonding applications involving thin or sheet metals where dimpling or scorching of the metal due to welding is aesthetically unacceptable.

Bonding with Metal Welder also offers significant advantages over rivets, screws, and other mechanical fasteners in the manufacture of vehicles, appliances, consumer electronics, office furniture, and other products. Bonding eliminates the need to punch or drill holes, reducing assembly times and labor costs. By distributing stresses and vibration across the entire bond line, Metal Welder eliminates the potential for loosening or leaks that can occur when stresses are concentrated at individual fasteners. Finally, adhesive bonding creates products that are more aerodynamic and aesthetically pleasing.

Metal Welder requires minimal surface preparation and cures at room temperature in about one hour. It produces permanent, load-bearing bonds that are resistant to weathering, humidity, temperatures up to 250 deg F, and thermal shock. Tensile shear strength is 2450 psi as tested on grit-blasted steel with a bond-
line thickness of 0.010". Peel strength is greater than 80 pli.

Metal Welder is mixed as dispensed using hand-held manual or pneumatic dispensers with static mixing nozzles. It is available in convenient 50 ml and 490 ml cartridges and is fully recyclable. Devcon Metal Prep 90(TM) is a chemical primer and conditioner designed to improve the adhesive's bond strength and
durability on aluminum or stainless steel surfaces.
