New Prismatic VK Vantage(R) Luminaires Suited To Food Processing Facilities, Harsh Environments

NEWARK, Ohio (February 5, 2002) - New Vantage® VK high intensity discharge (HID) luminaires from Holophane are designed for food and chemical processing facilities where particles in the air and frequent hosedowns are common. The luminaires feature a smooth, rounded ballast housing that includes no ledges, latches or fins to collect contaminants. An absence of exposed labels and markings minimizes the chance of contamination.

A combination prismatic plastic refractor and aluminum reflector provide superior photometrics for a totally lighted environment. The high temperature acrylic refractor is permanently joined to the reflector with a 45 degree sloped flange to shed contaminants. A silicone gasket between the ballast housing and the optics and the relamping door assures internal integrity in the harshest applications. The ballast housing is manufactured from low copper aluminum, phosphate pretreated and coated with a polyester powder paint finish for corrosion resistance.

Vantage VK luminaires are offered with two distinct distributions. Luminaires with wide and narrow distributions will illuminate both vertical and horizontal tasks while fixtures with a narrow distribution direct more useful light onto the task, limiting light obstructions.

Suggested applications include food processing and handling areas, meat processing facilities, pharmaceutical and chemical manufacturing facilities, clean rooms and distribution and warehouse centers. Vantage VK luminaires are UL/CUL listed suitable for wet locations and are NSF International Certified for Criteria C-2 splash zone. The fixtures have 3500 PSI hose-down capability.
