February 1, 2002 - Pick-to-Cart Workstation for horizontal carousel systems provides batch picking efficiencies with pick-to-light speed. Cart is positioned in front of put light array. Pick-To-Cart Workstation Provides An Alternative To Conveyor Systems
The new Pick-to-Cart workstation for horizontal carousel systems from Remstar International Inc. is designed for companies looking for an efficient order fulfillment system with fast implementation time and/or to minimize conveyor costs, complexity or floor space requirements. The Pick-to-Cart workstation provides batch picking efficiencies with pick-to-light simplicity and speed. The cart is positioned in front of a put light array. Up to 16 totes can be positioned on the cart with each having it's own light module. Each light module indicates which totes are active and the quantity to place in them. The operator picks from the cluster of horizontal carousels via pick-to-light and puts items into totes on the cart via put-to-light system for increased throughput, productivity and accuracy levels. After completing a batch, the cart can be wheeled to the next operation such as another picking zone, consolidation, quality control or shipping.
Horizontal carousels are a system of carriers that rotate on an oval track, delivering stored items to an operator on command. They offer order picking throughput improvements of up to 600 percent in some applications. When combined with Remstar's Pick-to-Cart workstation, picking accuracy can improve to 99.99 percent.
