Molybdenum Wire resists oxidation and corrosion.

January 29, 2002 - Metallurgically bonded platinum- or nickel-clad molybdenum wire provides low coefficient of thermal expansion at temperatures up to 1,200°C. Platinum clad wire is available from 0.010 to 0.060 in. OD with claddings ranging from 14-38% by weight and from 4.5 to 55 microns, depending upon dia. For less corrosive environments, nickel-clad molybdenum wire is available. Spools, coils, and straight lengths are offered.

Clad Molybdenum Wire Resists Oxidation, Corrosion At High Temps

A line of metallurgically bonded platinum- or nickel-clad molybdenum wire for use in semiconductor applications and other environments requiring wire that is highly resistant to oxidation and corrosion at elevated temperatures is available from Anomet Products, Inc. of Shrewsbury, Massachusetts.

Anomet Platinum Clad Molybdenum Wire provides high oxidation and corrosion resistance and a low coefficient of thermal expansion at temperatures up to 1200°C, depending upon the application. Metallurgically bonded, this wire offers superior ductility, formability, and weld-ability, versus wire that is plated or fabricated by deposition methods, claims the firm. Featuring a smooth, consistent surface finish, Anomet Platinum Clad Molybdenum Wire is available from 0.010" to 0.060" O.D. with claddings ranging from 14% to 38% by weight, and from 4.5 to 55 microns, depending upon dia. For less corrosive environments, nickel-clad molybdenum wire is available. Spools, coils, and straight lengths are offered.

Anomet Platinum Clad Molybdenum Wire is priced from $1.00 to $30.00 per ft. typical, depending upon platinum content, size, and quantity. Literature, samples, and price quotations are available upon request.
