New Modular Heat and Power Unit Features Reliable Waukesha Engine

WAUKESHA, Wisconsin - (Dec. I1, 2001) - A newly introduced model in a line of modular, self-contained, natural-gas fired engine/generator units depends on reliable engines manufactured by Waukesha Engine for efficient operation.

Revere Control Systems, Birmingham, Alabama, and Power Generating Systems, Canoga Park, California, has announced the latest model in their line of combined heat and power (CHP) units: the "plug and play" CHPgen™ 375. The engine/generator system is capable of producing 375 kW of energy output with 88 percent total efficiency, while also providing thermal energy in the form of 205-degree hot water.

The companies' CHPgen Series of CHP units is available from 375 kW through 1400 kW of energy output, designed to meet the needs of commercial, institutional, and industrial customers seeking overall energy cost reduction with reliable, consistent, on-site electrical power and who also have a need for thermal energy. Such customers include hotels, hospitals, computer/tech centers, commercial laundries, and commercial office buildings, as well as a wide variety of energy-intensive manufacturing operations.

The CHPgen unit is based on the time-proven Waukesha® engine/generator power platform, with on board heat recovery, remote monitoring and control, and air emissions control technology elements provided by Revere Control Systems.

Power Generating Systems provides national sales and marketing of the CHPgen Series, with the first installation to take place in California. A line of 133- through 500-ton hot-water-fired absorption chillers is available for utilization with the CHPgen Series for maximizing the thermal energy in warm weather climates.

According to Power Generating Systems, its CHPgen Series are set apart in the distributive energy field by:

* A popular and well-respected, heavy-duty engine-generator power platform technology

* National service support network

* Design features that accommodate California's stringent environmental protection requirements

* Remote monitoring, communications, and control capability to allow centralized performance monitoring of multiple systems

In addition, the units feature "plug and play" engineered installation, standardized process controls and interfaces, and high total unit efficiency to maximize the energy savings.
