SenGenuity Announces TempTrackr(TM) Wireless Multipoint Temperature Measurement System for Smart Grid Applications

HUDSON, N.H. -- SenGenuity, the Sensors division of Vectron International, today announced the release of the TempTrackr(TM) Wireless Multipoint Temperature Measurement System for Smart Grid Applications. With increasing public pressure for energy efficiency, there is growing demand for Smart Grid technology that can monitor the thermal health of electrical equipment on a continuous, real-time basis for greater system reliability and wide area situational awareness. Thermal signatures of substation equipment, such as switchgear, can provide valuable equipment state information. Overheated system components, if left unaddressed, can have significant operator safety and system reliability ramifications.

The TempTrackr(TM) Wireless Multipoint Temperature Measurement System is highly scalable and can accommodate up to 12 wireless temperature sensors with appropriate setup and configuration. The system provides a passive, wireless and electrically non-invasive temperature monitoring solution for switchgear, overhead transmission lines and other electrical transmission and distribution equipment in the Smart Grid arena. In contrast to traditional methods, such as infrared thermography, the TempTrackrTM System provides a highly cost effective continuous temperature monitoring capability that requires little to no long term maintenance.

"By monitoring the temperature of electrical assets, system operators can obtain much needed equipment state information and take corrective action prior to the occurrence of an adverse event," says Tom Cunneen, Vice President and General Manager, SenGenuity. "We see the TempTrackrTM system providing electric power T&D stakeholders with the capability to ensure the safe and efficient operation of key assets in the Smart Grid Arena."
