Insulated Coin Cell Retainers target 3 or 6 V applications.

November 23, 2009 - Suited for high-density PCB packaging, low-profile Coin Cell Retainers are designed for lead free solder and traditional reflow processes. Units protect battery from shorting if inserted incorrectly, and allow user to stack two 20 mm cells on top of each other to achieve 6 V of power on same board. They are also suited for single cell 3-volt applications. Offering clearly marked polarity, rugged parts include solder tails that support visual inspection systems.

New Insulated Coin Cell Retainer for 3 or 6 Volt Applications

Astoria, NY...A new series of insulated low profile Coin Cell Retainers, suited for high density PCB packaging is the latest Keystone Electronics Corp's innovation for surface and thru hole mount battery retainers.

The unique, patent-pending design protects the battery from shorting if inserted incorrectly. These new retainers also allow the user to stack two 20mm cells on top of each other to achieve 6 volts of power from the same board footprint or for single cell 3-volt applications. The retainers are rugged yet lightweight, with clearly marked polarity, and are designed for both lead free solder and traditional reflow processes. The solder tails located outside the insulating material, support visual inspection systems.

6 volt power can be achieved using Catalog No. 3020 (SMT) or Catalog No. 3021 (THM) for (2) 2016 size coin cells, or Catalog No. 3022 (SMT) or Catalog No. 3023 (THM) for (2) 2020 or (2) 2025 size coin cells. The new retainers are available in bulk or on tape and reel.

Keystone is a major manufacturer of interconnect components and electronic hardware and provides a range of stamping, machining and assembly services. ISO-9001:2000 certified and RoHS compliant, Keystone has USA headquarters with offices in Canada, Europe, Australia and Asia.
