Supermicro Presents Double-Density 0.35U TwinBlade(TM) at SuperComputing 2009 (SC '09)

70% Space Saving, 94% Power Efficiency, 20 DP Servers in 7U

PORTLAND, Ore., Nov. 16 -- Super Micro Computer, Inc. (NASDAQ:SMCI), a leader in application-optimized, high-performance server solutions, is unveiling its new TwinBlade(TM) the latest addition to its SuperBlade® family of blade servers at SC '09, Oregon Convention Center in Portland (booth 2355). With superior processing power and performance-per-watt, TwinBlade(TM) Supermicro's new breakthrough in blade system design, doubles the number of dual-processor (DP) compute nodes per 7U enclosure from 10 to 20.

"Our 20-blade server system based on the SBI-7226T-T2 blade doubles the computing density and is available with 40Gb/s QDR InfiniBand switches," said Charles Liang, CEO and president of Supermicro. "In addition to superior processing power, this optimized blade solution combines 94%* power supply efficiency with our innovative and highly efficient thermal and cooling system designs to deliver exceptional system performance-per-watt, making it the greenest, most power-saving blade solution available."

With its SuperBlade® family, Supermicro offers the industry's most extensive selection of application-optimized blade configurations. Supermicro's OfficeBlade(TM) operates at 50dB with 10 dual-processor blades and is perfect for personal supercomputing applications. Supermicro's enterprise-class SuperBlade® features both dual and quad-processor blades for performance, scalability and flexibility. For maximum density and computational performance, the TwinBlade supports up to 20 dual-socket server blades in one 7U enclosure for 0.35U density per node. With 1,440 processing cores per 42U rack and Mellanox 40Gb/s QDR InfiniBand, SuperBlade is the perfect solution for HPC applications. Additional cost savings from reduced IT space requirements as well as easier maintenance and management make these solutions an attractive option for both enterprise and high performance computing (HPC) applications.
