Eutecus, Inc. Releases MVE Evaluation Kit 2.2, Supports Multiple Input Modes

Berkeley, California, November 2, 2009. Eutecus, Inc. has released the latest version of its Multi-core Video Analytics Engine (MVE(TM)) Evaluation Kit supporting HD and composite TV (NTSC or PAL) input for both live and pre-recorded video. The system comes bundled with an assortment of different preconfigured videos allowing users to test MVE's video analytic capability in various indoor and outdoor scenarios, at different resolutions.

MVE is the first solution to embed an entire high-performance video analytics event detection application on a single low-cost FPGA, the Spartan 3A DSP(TM) from Xilinx.
Eutecus Chairman and CEO Stephen D. Hester commented, "MVE Evaluation Kit 2.2 enables our customers to test embedded video analytics on both indoor and outdoor video input in a variety of different resolutions and standards. By supporting pre-recorded video we enable repeat testing of a single video file, allowing users to optimize their testing parameters and also providing them with a learning tool to master the MVE environment. As earlier versions of the Evaluation Kit only supported lowerresolution
input from a live camera, although the MVE is capable of megapixel anaysis, version 2.2 now processes high definition video at standard frame rates, truly implementing and revealing the full power of the MVE."

Eutecus created MVE for OEMs (security camera, DVR and other device manufacturers) who wish to implement a ready-made video content analysis solution into their product lines at a lower price point and higher performance than existing offerings on the market. MVE provides numerous advantages over DSP and PC-based solutions, including multiple event detectors running in parallel, full analytic processing of HD video streams at video frame rate, as well as greater reliability and stability. MVE can also be used in conjunction with Eutecus' other advanced image processing solutions, such as object classification.

The MVE Evaluation Kit v2.2 is a fully-configurable test environment for experimenting and demonstrating MVE technology. Its features can also be used as prototypes for real-world video analytics solutions. The MVE Evaluation Kit runs on the Xilinx Xtreme DSP Video Starter Kit (VSK)(TM) which was a finalist for an EDN Innovation Award; it is available from authorized Xilinx distributors.
