November 4, 2009 - Built to IP68 standards, SurgeGuard(TM) K-Series protects RF transmission lines rated up to 50,000 W with surge capability to 125,000 A. It addresses demands of mission-critical RF applications, including HF, VHF, and UHF frequency ranges from 0 (DC) to 1,000 MHz. Based on multiple gas discharge tube design with serviceable replacement elements, arrestor measures 119 x 45 mm, has 7-16 female to 7-16 female connectors, and delivers 50 kW max RF power at max through-current of 30 A.

Nextek Launches Very High RF Power Transmission Lightning Arrestors


Passes DC with maximum surge transient protection of 125,000 Amps

Westford, MA, October 27, 2009 - NexTek announces the High RF Power K-Series designed for protecting high power RF transmission lines of up to 50,000 Watts with a surge capability to 125,000 Amps. This new series of SurgeGuard(TM) lightning arrestors addresses the stringent demands of mission critical RF applications including the HF, VHF, and UHF frequency ranges from 0(dc) to 1000MHz.

The SurgeGuard K-Series is based on a multiple gas discharge tube design with serviceable replacement elements. The PTR7AF7AFxxK arrestors measure 119mm x 45mm, have 7-16 female to 7-16 female connectors, and can deliver a maximum of 50kW of RF power at a maximum through-current of 30A.

The K-Series products can range 1.4kV to 3.5kV, and have a nominal impedance of 50 Ohms. Additional specifications include excellent lightning transient protection performance, low VSWR of 1.05 typical, and Insertion Loss of only 0.02dB typical. All SurgeGuard products use only top-rated materials, superb construction and are both waterproof and dustproof (tested and qualified to IP68 Standard). The robust SurgeGuard K-Series provides a 250x multiple strike capability @ 10kA and a 125kA (8 x 20µs) one time surge capability.
