Software Performance Analyzer helps resolve Web application issues.

October 23, 2009 - RootCause Transaction Instrumentation for Internet Explorer v2 can record transactions initiated within Internet Explorer and analyze end-user response times to identify root cause of slowness in complex Web applications. Within this non-intrusive program, users can validate and document performance issues as well as drill down into problem areas to determine where slowness occurs. Range of charts and reports as well as data filtering and management capabilities are standard.

OC Systems Releases RootCause Transaction Instrumentation (RTI) for Internet Explorer Version 2

Enhanced charts and graphs, more detailed data make it easier to determine which part of a transaction is slow

FAIRFAX, Va., Oct. 19 -- OC Systems, Inc. announced the release of Version 2 of RootCause Transaction Instrumentation for Internet Explorer (RTI/IE). RTI/IE is used to resolve performance problems for complex web-based software applications. It provides a non-intrusive way to record transactions that are initiated within Internet Explorer and analyze end-user response times to quickly identify the root cause of slowness in hard-to-debug web applications.

Software testers, software developers, and second- or third-tier help desk staff use RTI/IE to:

-- Validate and document performance issues,
-- Drill down into problem areas to determine where the slowness occurs, and
-- Deliver contextual and diagnostic information to developers to speed time-to-resolution.

RTI/IE is also used by software testing teams to record end-user response times and prove that applications meet Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and other contractual performance requirements.

"Performance problems in web-based applications can be frustrating for the people who are experiencing the problems as well as the developers who need to fix them," said Oliver Cole, president of OC Systems, Inc. "With RTI for Internet Explorer, it now becomes extraordinarily simple for anyone to document exactly how slow the response time is and then drill down to find out what part of the transaction is responsible for the slowness."

RTI/IE consists of two components: a Collector, which records the transactions; and an Analyzer, which provides the ability to view transactions and subtransactions with their properties, perform basic sort and filter operations on them, and save the results of those operations.

Version 2 of the RTI/IE Analyzer offers substantial improvements in reporting and data analysis, making it easier to isolate performance problem areas:

-- Six quick charts are now available: Summary by Content Type, Summary by URL, Timeline of Selected Transactions, Timeline with Subtransactions, Performance by Content Type, and Performance by Host.
-- Advanced Charts offers a dialog that allows the user to build a custom chart for selected transactions.
-- Summary reports make it possible to view response times for groups of transactions or multiple users.
-- Enhanced ability to filter and manage collected data, easily separate meaningful performance problems from extraneous data.

Enhancements to the RTI/IE Collector include:
-- Improved privacy controls - the end user now has finely tuned control over which transactions are captured and shared with support staff or developers.
-- RTI/IE now collects child transactions in addition to the initial click and browser refresh. This provides deeper insight into the transactions and helps to determine where the slowness occurs.
-- More attributes are now collected for each transaction. In addition to URL, start/stop time, duration and status, Version 2 also collects host name, data length, and MIME-type.
-- Data Snapshot provides an easy way for the end user to transmit data to help desk personnel.

RTI for Internet Explorer is part of the RTI family of response time measurement products available from OC Systems. These low-cost software applications offer lightweight instrumentation that is simple to install and easy to use.

RTI for Internet Explorer is compatible with Internet Explorer version 6 and higher running on Windows Vista, Windows 2000, and Windows XP. Full system requirements are available at www.ocsystems.com/prod_rti-req....

Pricing and Availability

RTI for Internet Explorer Version 2 is available now. There is no charge for non-commercial use. Commercial use is $195 per seat for 1-49 seats. Quantities of 50 or more qualify for a discounted rate of $99. A portable commercial license, which can be moved from one machine to another as needed, is $495. There is a free 30-day trial.
