Absolute Black Adds New Drama to Vanceva® Color Studio by Saflex®

New interlayer brings black, opaque product to complete color offering

ST. LOUIS, Oct. 15 /-- Saflex, a unit of Solutia Inc. (NYSE:SOA) and the world leader in protective interlayer for laminated glass, announces the newest addition to its Vanceva Color Studio: Absolute Black. As a dramatic, black opaque PVB based interlayer, Vanceva Absolute Black provides the architects and designers with countless new design options for both indoor and outdoor applications.

"With a light transmittance level of zero percent, Vanceva Absolute Black is an innovative way to add privacy, drama and balance to interior and exterior laminated glass applications," says Christel Dendas, market manager for EMEA and Asia Pacific, Saflex. "From residential doors, side-lites and transoms to kitchens and baths, partitions and conference rooms, the versatility of Absolute Black is limited only to one's imagination."

The new Absolute Black interlayer can be used alone as a single layer in a glass laminate or combined with any of the colored interlayers offered by the Vanceva color system. "The ability to achieve two different colors of glass in a single unit - for example, white on one side and Absolute Black on the other - gives designers the ability to create original, dramatic and even reversible designs," added Aimee Davis, market manager for the Americas, Saflex. Vanceva Absolute Black interlayer is also compatible with all clear Saflex protective interlayers when higher PVB thickness is needed to meet building codes.

Offering superior opacity that allows for total privacy and exceptional uniformed color, Vanceva Absolute Black is ideally suited for both commercial and residential applications. Plus, Vanceva interlayers give architects and designers the proven performance benefits of laminated glass, including safety, security, sound reduction and the structural integrity they have come to expect from Saflex protective interlayer products.

For information about Vanceva Absolute Black or to request a sample, visit www.vanceva.com/absoluteblack . Additional information is also available online at www.vanceva.com/colorstudio , where designers and architects can access a virtual design studio and view all color possibilities, order samples or match their own colors to the Vanceva color interlayer combination equivalent.
