Littelfuse Introduces Ultra MOVTM 25S Varistor Series with High Peak Surge Current Ratings and High Energy Absorption Capability

The new varistor series withstands peak surge current up to 22 kA at single 8/20 µs pulse and can protect against lightning striking interference and abnormal power source.

CHICAGO, Illinois, August 3, 2009 - Littelfuse (NASDAQ: LFUS) today announced the launch of Ultra MOVTM 25S Varistor Series for applications requiring high peak surge current rating and high energy absorption capability. The new varistor series withstands peak surge current up to 22 kA at single 8/20 µs pulse which is the highest in the market. It can protect against lightning striking interference and abnormal power source from incoming power lines.

The device in 25 mm X 25 mm square form in a radial lead package with straight leads is a new concept of circuit protection for high peak surge applications such as Surge Protective Devices (SPD), Uninterruptable Power Supplies (UPS), Transient Voltage Surge Suppression (TVSS) modular, non-modular TVSS, DIN rail TVSS, AC power taps, AC power meters, measuring and controlling systems, etc.

Ultra MOVTM 25S Varistor Series is characterized as having very fast response time with a wide range of operation voltages ranging from 115 VAC to 750 VAC. Phenolic coated option is available which makes possible operating temperature up to 125 °C and thus, can even prevent fire.
