Kontron Concept Box 751 packs 3 x LAN 10/100/1000, 4 x USB 2.0, 1 x IEEE1394, 1 x RS232, VGA, HD audio, PS/2 mouse, and PS/2 keyboard interfaces into 75 x 250 x 260 mm frame. There are also 3 RS232 and 2 USB interfaces at back, and silent operation is ensured via fanless design combined with use of SSD or CF media. Based on Mini-ITX 986LCD-M/mITX (BGA) board with choice of 1.06 GHz Intel® Celeron® or 1.66 GHz Intel Core Duo LV processor, PC consumes 37 W max and has MTBF of 40,000 hr.

Eching, Germany, October 08, 2009 - The Kontron Concept Box 751 is Kontron's new compact Embedded Box PC with a dualcore processor. It offers high computing performance, an extensive feature set in an extremely compact format and it boasts fanless operation due to its high level of energy efficiency.
As a robust and fanless Embedded Box PC, Kontron's Concept Box 751 is suitable for challenging industrial environments and also for application areas such as medical technology, transportation systems or digital signage. Thanks to the use of SSD or CF media, the box operates completely silently and is consequently the perfect choice for applications in noise sensitive areas.
There are numerous potential application scenarios for the Kontron Concept Box 751 (75mm x 250mm x 260mm), thanks to the wide range of interfaces. On the front of the enclosure, it provides 3 x LAN 10/100/1000, 4 x USB 2.0, 1 x IEEE1394, 1 x RS232, VGA, HD audio, PS/2 mouse and PS/2 keyboard. Optionally, it can run DVI via an ADD2 extension card. The box has three further RS232 and two USB interfaces at the back. At the heart of this fanless Box PC is a longlife Mini-ITX Kontron 986LCD-M/mITX (BGA) board with the choice of either an Intel Celeron 1.06 GHz or an Intel Core Duo LV 1.66 GHz processor and up to 4 GB of DDR2-RAM. For data storage, there is a bay for 2.5" SATA hard disks and a CF socket on the board. In addition, this Embedded Box PC has a PCI Express extension slot.
The maximum power consumption of the system, which is supplied via a 24VDC external power supply, is 37 watts. The MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) is 40,000 hours and reliable operation is guaranteed at environmental temperatures of 0 to 50 °C.
The Kontron Concept Box 751 is the latest addition to Kontron's Concept Box series which, adhering to Kontron's "form-follows-function" principle, provides application-specific Embedded Box PCs with variable dimensions, system components and feature sets. The Kontron Concept Box 751 is the first version based on a standard product from this range and is recommended as an application-ready, longlife COTS solution.
Kontron offers the box with different assembly options for vertical and horizontal mounting and also for rack-mounting in order to enable integration in future applications.
The CE certified Embedded Box PC Kontron Concept Box 751 is now available in Europe and will be available in North America and APAC late this year. It supports Linux and Microsoft Windows XP and Windows XP Embedded.
