C&K Components has enhanced its KMT Series tactile switches with halogen-free materials. Measuring just 2.6mm x 3.0mm x 0.65mm, with a 0.45mm body height, the ultra-miniature tactile switch now provides customers with a means of meeting miniaturization and ultra high reliability specifications, while also conforming to all environmental requirements.
"Halogen-free plastics are fully recyclable, so as environmental issues continue to play a large role in all component and end product designs, halogen-free plastics enable customers to tout their "green" commitment," said Jerome Smolinski, senior product manager for C&K Components. The integrated actuator allows for simpler button design while yielding an excellent tactile ratio of 30% minimum, providing sharp feedback. Actuation force options are 1.6N (tactile ratio 30%) for mobile devices and 1.0N (tactile ratio 10%) for hearing aids and headsets. Operating temperature ranges from -40°C to +85°C.
