Gauging Platform provides accurate, real-time measurement.

October 6, 2009 - With up to 2,000 measurement profile points and Hi-Res sensor, IPlus! measures weight or thickness in cast film extrusion, sheet extrusion, nonwovens, vinyl calendering, and extrusion coating applications. Operator interface facilitates use of this measurement and control system, which incorporates sensor technology and software. Optionally, AutoDie Profile Control's (APC) non-linear mapping capabilities help reduce scrap or non-conforming product.

Thermo Fisher Scientific Launches New IPlus! Measurement and Control Platform

High-Performance System Provides Accurate, Real-Time Measurement at Competitive Price Point

WILMINGTON, Mass. (August 24, 2009) - Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., the world leader in serving science, today announced the launch of the Thermo Scientific IPlus!, a new gauging platform designed to accurately measure weight or thickness in cast film extrusion, sheet extrusion, nonwovens, vinyl calendering and extrusion coating applications.

The IPlus! incorporates advanced sensor technology and powerful, streamlined software and is the latest measurement and control system in the Thermo Scientific web gauging family of products. The system is easy to use and maintain with an intuitive operator interface that provides users with the measurement and control they need at a low cost of ownership.

"The IPlus! meets the growing demands of film manufacturers who want high performance at the right price, but whose application doesn't require the feature-rich Thermo Scientific 21Plus! platform," says Tam Nguyen, product manager for Thermo Fisher Scientific. "The platform's strong return on investment, high performance and cost reduction through material savings make it possible for manufacturers to compete in the global marketplace."

With up to 2,000 measurement profile points and a high-precision, high-resolution sensor, the IPlus! provides reliable, real-time assessments of material weight or thickness. Offered as an option to increase product uniformity, the AutoDie Profile Control's (APC) advanced, non-linear mapping capabilities help reduce scrap or non-conforming product and, ultimately, help cut annual material costs.

The Thermo Fisher Scientific measurement and control teams offer more than 40 years of web gauging experience, formerly sold under the EGS Gauging brand. All web gauging systems are backed by Thermo Fisher Scientific's worldwide service and support network. For more information on the IPlus! and other Thermo Scientific web gauging products, visit www.thermo.com/webgauging.
