VersaLogic Announces New SUMIT-Based Expansion Modules

Boston, MA - Sept. 22, 2009 - At the 2009 Embedded Systems Conference today, VersaLogic Corp., a Eugene, Oregon-based manufacturer of embedded computer products, announced that it has developed two new SUMIT(TM)-based expansion modules. The new modules feature the Stackable Unified Module Interconnect Technology (SUMIT) interface scheme developed by the Small Form Factor Special Interest Group (SFF-SIG(TM)).

"These two expansion cards, dual gigabit Ethernet expansion, and an in-stack DC-DC power supply, add additional flexibility to our SUMIT-based line of products" said Bruce McKinnon, VP of Sales and Marketing at VersaLogic.

The PC/104-sized expansion modules are ideal for systems that need a small (3.65" x 3.8") footprint. The SUMIT interface makes it easier for design engineers to add both standard and custom expansion boards to the system, since it includes both low and high speed signals. This includes PCI Express (PCIe) lanes, USB ports, LPC, SPI, and SMB. To support legacy applications, these new accessory cards are also equipped with a PC/104 ISA feed-through connector.

The VL-EPMs-E1 features both high-speed Ethernet channels, and optional wireless functionality via a PCIe Mini Card interface. The VL-EPMs-PS1 power supply accepts +9V to +40V DC input and provide +5V and ±12V DC output (up to 50 Watts) for powering the embedded board stack. Customization is available including conformal coating, BIOS customizations, revision locks, custom labeling, high-G shock and vibration treatment, custom testing and screening, etc. Both modules are backed by VersaLogic's long-term (5-year) availability guarantee.

VersaLogic's accessory modules can be used to complement any SUMIT-enabled SBC to form a complete SUMIT ecosystem, and can be mixed with legacy PC/104 modules. They are compatible with any SUMIT-based SBC, including VersaLogic's Atom(TM) Z5xx PC/104 sized board, and the Core(TM)2 Duo EPIC-sized SBC.

The VL-EPMs-E1 and VL-EPMs-PS1 will begin shipping in September 2009. Pricing in OEM quantities for the VL- EPMs-E1 is around $250, and around $200 for the VL-EPMs-PS1. Please contact sales@VersaLogic.com for more information.
