Testing Software supports ATML Test Description standard.

September 24, 2009 - NI TestStand ATML Toolkit v1.0 supports v1.0.1 of ATML Test Description standard and v2.0.2 of ATML Test Results standard. Program translates ATML Test Description documents into NI TestStand sequences, NI LabVIEW VIs, and NI LabWindows(TM)/CVI functions that developers can use to develop test software. It allows engineers to apply changes from updated Test Description document to previously translated NI TestStand sequence file and also maximizes information in ATML TestResults report.

National Instruments Introduces the NI TestStand ATML Toolkit for Automated Test Application Development

Toolkit Adds Enhanced ATML Functionality to the NI TestStand Platform

AUSTIN, Texas, Sept. 15, 2009 / / - National Instruments (NASDAQ:NATI) today announced the NI TestStand ATML Toolkit to help engineers reduce development and maintenance time by expanding test system component interoperability and increasing test system documentation. The Automatic Test Markup Language (ATML) is an IEEE standard consisting of XML document formats that describe different aspects of a test system. The new toolkit adds support for the ATML TestDescription standard and improves support for the ATML TestResults standard in NI TestStand. The toolkit can be downloaded from the National Instruments Services Resource Center and is available for free to customers who have the current Standard Service Program.

With the toolkit, developers can reduce development and maintenance time as well as effort by automating tasks such as generating code templates based on ATML TestDescription documents, applying changes in ATML TestDescription documents to existing test sequences and increasing the amount of useful information included in reports.

The NI TestStand ATML Toolkit can translate ATML TestDescription documents into NI TestStand sequences, NI LabVIEW VIs and NI LabWindows(TM)/CVI functions that developers can use as starting points to develop their test software. This new feature reduces development time by automating the previously manual process of translating an ATML TestDescription document to an executable application. Engineers also can use the toolkit to apply changes from an updated ATML TestDescription document to a previously translated NI TestStand sequence file, reducing maintenance time and effort. In addition, the toolkit increases the amount of information in the ATML TestResults report compared to the current version of NI TestStand, providing engineers with more relevant and rich information in their test result reports.

"The release of the NI TestStand ATML Toolkit demonstrates the National Instruments commitment to the continued support of the ATML standard," said John Pasquarette, vice president of software marketing at National Instruments. "With the NI TestStand ATML Toolkit, developers can use National Instruments software to take advantage of the benefits of ATML with significantly less effort than before."

The NI TestStand ATML Toolkit 1.0 supports version 1.0.1 of the ATML TestDescription standard and version 2.0.2 of the ATML TestResults standard. The NI TestStand ATML Toolkit will be distributed through the NI Services Resource Center for free to customers who are enrolled in the Standard Service Program.
