Patented 2-in-1 Blades Distinguish Combination Scissors from Aven

Industrial-grade scissors with superior cutting capacity provide a compact, versatile solution for design, assembly, fabricating and other production requirements. Patented stainless steel blades on the 2-in-1 Combination Scissors eliminate the need for two-handed tools or power equipment to cut copper-braided wire, nylon or Kevlar fiber and insulated cord.

Two cutting textures handle diverse materials without switching tools. A notched gripping surface from the tip to the middle of the blade holds items firmly for fine, clean, flush cuts without slipping. That end of the Combination Scissors even cuts aluminum or copper sheets up to 0.5 mm thick or plastic plate and PET packaging up 1.0 mm.

Higher up are U-style blade notches that tightly hold copper wire or rubber-coated cord up to 1.5 mm in diameter.

Aven, Inc., a global instrument supplier based in Michigan, provides two models of the durable scissors for applications that include model making, electronics and electrical assembly, custom metalwork, fabric or leather trim and manufacturing assembly.

"Industrial users describe these as 'super scissors' and time-saving workbench or toolbelt essentials," says Mike Shahpurwala, president and chief marketing officer of Aven.

A heavy duty model (shown) has longer blades with higher capacity, as well as larger handles with rubber-like elastomeric grips for comfort. The 3 mm thick blades can cut coaxial cable, 10 mm diameter rope, 2 mm aluminum wire, 1.2 mm polycarbonate and other difficult materials.

Blades have a hardness rating of HRC 54 (standard model) and HRC 56-60 (heavy duty).

Aven will be at Booth S-3961 of the Worldwide Food Expo at McCormick Place in Chicago from Oct. 28-31, 2009 and at the Productronica 2009 international trade fair in Munich, Germany, from Nov. 10-13, 2009.

Aven, Inc. is an international source of high-performance precision tools and optical inspection systems for industrial, scientific, research and education applications.
