Handheld Vibration Analyzers enable predicitive maintenance.

September 14, 2009 - Equipped with color touchscreen, VSA(TM) (Vibration Spectrum Analyzer) series helps prevent unexpected equipment failure in rotating and reciprocating machinery by alerting users of critical conditions. Each analyzer includes InSpect(TM) route creation and execution software, which is comprised of desktop and handheld components. Data can be shown in terms of acceleration, velocity, displacement, or vibration decibels as well as overall vibration with alarm level.

New InSpect(TM) Improved Route Creation and Execution Software for Datastick® VSA(TM) Handheld Vibration Analyzers Ships Today

Company announces first customer shipment; InSpect being demonstrated at Reliable Plant 2009 in Columbus, OH

SAN JOSE, CA, SEPTEMBER 3, 2009 -- Datastick® VSA(TM) Vibration Spectrum Analyzers - used in machine-condition monitoring and predictive maintenance - now include a new member of the Datastick Spectrum software suite - Datastick InSpect(TM) route creation and execution software, being demonstrated at the Reliant Plant 2009 show in Columbus, OH, announced Penny Melrose, CEO of Datastick Systems, Inc., today. InSpect's first customer shipment occurred today, with production shipping slated to occur within the next two weeks.

VSA-series vibration collector/analyzers help prevent unexpected and costly equipment failures in rotating and reciprocating machinery by alerting users to the condition of their critical equipment so they can proactively schedule its maintenance, rather than being surprised by unplanned breakdowns.

"Reliablity-centered maintenance - also called conditions-based or predictive maintenance - is the next area in which increased productivity can lead to significant cost savings in manufacturing and power generation plants, and in facilities maintenance. Datastick continues to lead in its ultra portability and ease of use - at prices significantly less than other analyzers," said Melrose. "InSpect now adds to that ease of use and flexibility, since companies with VSAs can now use lower-level technicians to run routes for later trend analysis at the desktop or by consultants."

Datastick InSpect software has two components: the desktop software and the handheld software. First, routes are defined in InSpect RouteMaker(TM) software on the PC and then moved to the handheld computer that is part of the portable VSA vibration analyzer.

A technician runs the route, collecting data with the handheld VSA, and then brings the VSA back to the PC for trending and analysis on the InSpect desktop software. During the course of running the route the technician can stop if he wishes and switch to Datastick Spectrum software for more detailed analysis on the portable unit, and more in-depth information for later analysis on the PC.

Datastick Spectrum displays waveform or FFT spectral information on the PDA's high-resolution, full color touchscreen. Data can be shown in terms of acceleration, velocity, displacement, or vibration decibels as well as overall vibration with alarm level display. VSA models are also available for dynamic pressure sensing and impact testing.

After the data is captured on the PDA, the user exports it to Datastick Reporting System(TM) software on a Windows XP or Windows Vista PC for analysis and trending in the Excel-based desktop software.
