Coating Additive facilitates color acceptance.

September 11, 2009 - Compatible with low to zero VOC formulas, Pluracoat Performa® CF20 wetting and dispersing agent optimizes pigment stabilization, color development, and color acceptance in waterborne coatings applications, including architectural, wood, and industrial maintenance coatings. Nonionic surfactant system can also help optimize freeze/thaw stability of paint, and since it has zero VOCs and is APEO-free, product can help coating formulators meet green guidelines, such as Greenseal® GS-11.

BASF Launches Pluracoat Performa® CF20 Color Acceptance Additive for the Coatings Industry

New coating additive addresses functional need, while being environmentally friendly

FLORHAM PARK, NJ, September 9, 2009 -- BASF today launched Pluracoat Performa® CF20, the newest addition to the Pluracoat® high performance coating additives line developed for waterborne technologies. Pluracoat CF20 is a multifunctional wetting and dispersing agent for color development and color acceptance that is designed to deliver enhanced functional performance, formulation flexibility and environmental benefits - all in a single ingredient.

The new nonionic surfactant system improves color float and color acceptance in waterborne coatings applications, including architectural, wood, and industrial maintenance coatings. It fills a void in the marketplace by increasing pigment stabilization and color strength development while being compatible with low to zero Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) formulas.

"Pluracoat Performa CF20 is a next generation color acceptance additive that provides enhanced color development and color acceptance while being APEO (alcohol phenol ethoxylates) free and Zero VOC" said Ron Lee, Marketing Manager Coatings & Construction, Care Chemicals & Formulators, for BASF in North America. "It provides exceptional performance and flexibility to the coatings formulator."

The strong wetting and dispersing properties of Pluracoat CF20 help to improve pigment stabilization, color development and the efficiency of the pigments. This translates into making colors more vibrant, strong, and consistent, and allowingthe homeowner to touch up seamlessly. In addition, the product can help to improve the freeze/thaw stability of the paint to improve storage flexibility and workability of the paint.

Since the new surfactant has zero VOC and is APEO free, it can help coating formulators meet "green" guidelines, such as Greenseal® GS-11. It provides exceptional performance while addressing environmental requirements.
